Politics

I don't discuss politics. You guys know that. It doesn't get anyone anywhere, and it is tantamount to teaching pigs to fly. It just don't work.*

I think from here forward anytime I hear anyone bitching about the current administration, the previous administration, the federal government, the state government, the city government, their police force, someone else's police force, or anyone in charge of anything more important than cleaning the pay toilets at the bus station I'm going to ask them one simple thing:

"What have YOU done to make it better?"

If the answer isn't a damned good one I'm going to tell them to have a nice cup of coffee and STFU.**

Then I'm going to get back to work designing a more aerodynamic, lightweight, non-polluting porcine quadruped.

** And no, Joan m'dear, I'm not aiming this one at you. I think you're one of the few who really ARE doing something other than making loud noises in an empty room, and sweet gold-plated Jeebux's bottom help you if I'm wrong! ;)

I've found myself in a weird place, politically lately. I don't seem to fit anywhere. Canada's has a dozen official political parties, but none that seem to fit a socialist-social justice loving-union hating-goofball. Mebbe I'll start one. LOL

“God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. … And what country can preserve its liberties, if it’s rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”

Ha! How'd I miss this?

Believe it or not, I'm not a political creature. I just love people to be free to be. . .

I bitch about politics pretty much constantly. But never on the blog. Or other's blogs.

Except for that one post about Sarah Palin.

I blame society.

How much duct tape would it take to stick a pig to a jet engine?
I agree with you, if you are not trying to make a change then you are part of the problem.
It's amazing how upset people get when you tell them that the change they want has to start with them.

Aside from my caped-crusader comment, I actually do have an opinion. LOL

I do agree with you that people should make an effort for change and if their effort fails then they have more right to complain.

I also can see that it is difficult for some to know where to start and they feel lost. My best advice for people like that is just start. It doesn't matter where you start, just get going in what you think to be the right direction. Often one will find that this is all it really takes to make their voice heard.
